Maes Mawr Smallholding is an 1850's Grade II listed house with a 5 acre smallholding in the Nantlle Valley in North Wales. Situated only 15 minutes south from Caernarfon and 20 minutes from Portmadog.
It was originally listed as it is an original mountain dwelling property, retaining its original land and boundaries. Emma & Steve Bennett moved here in 2016, moving from running a smallholding on an acre in Hale Barns, Cheshire. The previous owner had raised goats on the land and used their milk to make goats cheese. Her goats cheese was much celebrated back then, and so the history seemed very fitting as we raise our own goats and milk them here now. We make our own goats cheese, which visitors are welcome to try and we use the extra milk for making goats milk soaps. We don't interrupt the milk given to our goat kids born here, and we do not sell our animals for meat.
As well as the smallholding courses, your welcome to enjoy the gardens we have created and see the plant nursery that Emma runs here.
Poultry and livestock sales will be advertised on this site, alternatively you can request to be notified directly. Please let us know if you wish to reserve chickens to buy when you attend the poultry keeping course.
